AQA

Below is a list of the new GCSE science courses offered by AQA with links to the AQA website.

Use the drop-down menus above for details of each course or use the links to go do the AQA website.

Science A - Sometimes known as Core Science – this is the course normally taken in year 10. Increasingly one or more of the modules are taken, or at least studied, in year 9, now that schools don’t have to spend their time preparing students for the old SAT exams.

Science B – An alternative to science A with the same content, but delivered in a different way to emphasise science in context.

Additional Science - Taken after core science for those wishing to get a second science GCSE or going on to triple science.

Biology - A single GCSE in Biology made up of modules from core and additional along with an extension module.

Chemistry – A single GCSE in Chemistry made up of modules from core and additional along with an extension module.

Physics – A single GCSE in Physics made up of modules from core and additional along with an extension module.

Additional Applied Science - An alternative to Additional Science for those who are more vocationally inclined. Assessment is mainly by means of project work, rather than exams. The content is completely different.

Here are links to the old courses – which will be examined for the last time in Summer 2012.
