Also known as Core Science, AQA Science is usually studied in year 10, or recently started in year 9. It is one of the compulsory school subjects and will give you a single GCSE in Science.
There is then the option of continuing with science by taking Additional Science or Additional Applied Science.
There are two paths to AQA Science – Science A and Science B. They cover the same content, but the exams are slightly different.
Make sure you know which you’re taking – A or B!
Science B covers the same content as Science A, but it is ‘mixed up’ in a different way. Here is what AQA say about it:
“Science B is the ‘integrated’ route presented in themes and contexts with biology, chemistry and physics being taught together rather than separately. This may suit students who learn best by putting the science content into contexts that they can see are relevant to them. For example when the unit My Family is taught, you will teach content from both biology and chemistry. When you teach Making and improving products, students will learn content from biology, chemistry and physics.”
